Big Girls on Campus

We took a little trip to campus on Saturday afternoon. It was a sunny day, and for some reason we just like walking around the ol' cougar stomping grounds. Chloe had a fun time. Her favorite activities were:

splashing in the pool by the MOA

going up and down the HFAC stairs

going up and down the steep hill between the library and the admin building

She also enjoyed rolling down the hill with Daddy. And here they are climbing to the top to meet Brother Brigham.

Maybe Charlotte and Chloe will go to BYU one day. (Chloe seems pretty confident that she will.)

Vocabulary

Chloe never ceases to amaze us with all that she is learning. Since she is our first child, and since Charlotte is still so young, we don't have much to compare against what Chloe does and says. She delighted us when she said her first word (besides "dada"): turtle.

And then the other day she really surprised us with this one:

Birthday Bash

Duncan and I celebrated my birthday a week early by going to The Melting Pot in Salt Lake and seeing Brian Regan live at Abravanel Hall. It was so much fun! Here is a picture of our first course--the traditional Swiss cheese fondue. I'll have to admit, it wasn't as good as I remember it tasting the first time we went to The Melting Pot; and, of course, it's not as good as the stuff you get in Switzerland, but it'll do in a pinch. (By the way, we drank sparkling raspberry juice. It was yummy.)

Mmm....

For our second course, we had a variety of meat and shellfish that we cooked in a vegetable broth. The main course also came with lots of different sauces, from plum sauce to curry sauce. It was all quite delicious. (We also had salads, but they weren't anything to blog about.) The meal we ordered came with dessert, but after stuffing our faces for two hours, we realized we would be late for the concert if we didn't leave, so we get to go back another time for a complimentary chocolate fondue! (Just an fyi: if you plan on eating a full meal at The Melting Pot, be sure to block out three hours.)
We decided to walk/run to Abravanel Hall, thinking that it was closer than it really was. Despite the hike, we made it to our seats with time to spare. Whew! We listened to the opening act, and then it was an hour of sidesplitting Regan humor. He performed to a packed house at Abravanel Hall four nights in a row. The night we were there, he said that they were recording the show for a CD. I can't wait 'til it comes out! A good time was had by all. :) Thanks, Mom, for watching the girls!!

Cousins

We feel very blessed to live near family. One of the biggest advantages is that Chloe and Charlotte get to see some of their cousins on a regular basis. (We wish they could see all of their cousins more often!) The other day, Amanda's girls came over to spend the afternoon with us. And, well, you know...girls just want to have fun!


Last week, Craig and two of his children came from Idaho to visit, so Chloe got to spend time with Sarah and Nathan.

The Lighter Side of Nature

Ok, I'm sorry for traumatizing everyone with the pictures of Frinky. It's not that I'm all that brave (I couldn't watch Frinky actually kill the rat), I just find the whole business of a snake eating a rat somewhat fascinating...and grotesque at the same time.

To make amends, here is a picture of one of nature's more pleasing sights. My Dad gave me these beautiful flowers for Valentine's day. (Duncan gave me some, too--just the other day.)
