The Sister Council

After I put the girls to bed tonight, I told them that I would leave the door open so they could listen for Daddy to come home, IF they stayed in their bed. Well, after sending them back to bed a couple times, I closed the door. I don't remember speaking angrily to them, just matter-of-factly. A few minutes later, I heard the door open and they both walked into my bedroom.

While entering, Chloe began, "Mom, wait...wait" (expecting me to fly off the handle, I guess).

So I calmly asked, "What are you doing out of bed?"

Chloe (speaking for the Sister Council): "Well, we told ourselves that you need to say sorry."

Me: "What for?"

Chloe: "For being mad at us."

I explained that I wasn't mad, but that I was just keeping my word about closing the door since they disobeyed. They still thought that I was in the wrong and that I should apologize.

I chuckled to myself, imagining the two of them in bed discussing the situation, and coming to the conclusion to get out of bed and, together, bravely seek retribution.
