Camping in Autumn
Chad invited Duncan and me to go hiking and camping last weekend while Maizie and the kids were in Missouri visiting the Harpers. After discussing several options, we decided to keep it pretty simple and hike about an hour up Battlecreek Canyon above Pleasant Grove. Chad had hiked the trail before and knew of a camp site up above the water falls. I somehow managed to make the hike (being 5 1/2 months pregnant and somewhat out of shape) and was so happy when we finally made it to the camp site. It was mostly dark by that time, but we gathered wood, started a fire, set up camp and began to prepare the "bouillon blanc" (a Haitian stew with meat, potatoes and spinach) for our supper (all Chad's doing of course). It took a while, but dinner was finally cooked and it tasted soooo good! After that we roasted marshmallows, found a way to string up our food and cooking utensils, and then nestled into our sleeping bags--it was cold up there!! We didn't have the best night's sleep, but all in all we had a good time. Here are some pictures from our trip.

Way to go all of you, but especially you Gina. I bet you slept better the following night. Camping really makes me appreciate my bed. I love that last picture.
Souds like a good time to me. I wish I could have been there.
How FUN. You're brave going prego and in the cold. We LOVE to camp. Hope all is well. Happy Thanksgiving. I need to get your address. If you could email me that would be wonderful. Our email is jacksonszoo@yahoo.com
Love,
Amy
